FAQ: How to interpret new Archer version numbers?
Description of the meaning of different parts of Archer software version numbers and how they impact an update.
Contact BTG Labs if you have questions or concerns about updating your device.
A typical Archer version number will be made up of three parts separated by dots.
For example, Archer 8.11.4 is a typical version number (old now).
- The first number identifies a class of Surface Analyst devices which the software will run on. Currently all Surface Analyst devices run version 8.
- The second number identifies the major version number. When this number changes it indicates that there are changes to the user interface, operation of tools, or other features added to the software.
- The third number identifies the patch version. When a new major version is release this number is reset to 0. You should always update to new patch versions when possible. Patch versions fix problems encountered in the software and do not introduce new features.
