End of Life Notification: 5-Target PCS Card

Brighton Science is committed to continuously improving our products to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and ease of use. As part of this commitment, we have developed a new 3-Target Performance Check Surface (PCS) Card and routine whose improved ease of use and performance is leading to the sunsetting of the current 5-Target PCS card.   

Effective January 1st, 2027, the 5-Target PCS Card will be discontinued, leaving our newly released 3-Target Performance Check Surface (PCS) Card (Item #12323) as the only PCS option. 

The new 3-Target PCS Card has been designed to streamline the Performance Check routine while maintaining the accuracy and reliability you expect from Brighton Science products. It provides an automated testing sequence and tool correction processes to verify and maintain accurate measurement results in both laboratory and production environments. 

Key Highlights of the New 3-Target PCS Card: 

  • Median completion time is less than 45 seconds (45% reduction compared to 5-Target)

  • Three optimized non-contact yellow target zones

  • Compatible with all Brighton Science handheld and automated systems

  • Designed for clean room environments

  • Expiration extended from 1 year to 2 years.

What Does This Mean for You 

BCMobile Users 

You’re all set.  All you need to do is order the new 3-Target cards, scan them with your device, and everything will automatically switch to using the new routine. 

SA3001, SA3001-HZE, and SA5001 Users 

Customers using SA3001, SA3001-HZE, and SA5001 instruments will have their devices automatically updated to the latest software version and returned with new batches of 3-Target PCS Cards during a standard calibration.  Additional 3-Target PCS Cards are available for purchase directly through our online store. 

SA7001, SA7001-DS, and SA7001-AC Users 

Customers using the SA7001 platform devices will get their units upgraded during their next on-site calibration visit. This Knowledge base article provides additional guidelines and instructions to support a smooth upgrade. 

Please note: 

SA7001 devices will require updates to interface commands and trained positions that will require support from either the customer or their preferred integration vendor(s). 

We recommend transitioning to the 3-Target PCS Card as soon as possible to ensure continued compatibility with updated software and Performance Check routines. Once any device scans a new 3-Target PCS card, it will no longer be able to use a 5-Target card.
